Four Reasons Why You Can’t (and Shouldn’t) Do It On Your Own

Posted on: November 4, 2020

This global pandemic seems to have brought out the DIY in all of us. From crafting furniture out of wine corks to making loaves and loaves of fresh baked bread, for months we have been doing it all ourselves. While we’re happy you’ve been able to express your creative side and we’re sure you’re quite amazing at it, perhaps it’s time for you to take a step back and let someone else handle things. Here’s four reasons why you can’t (and shouldn’t ) do it on your own.

  1. It’s a Pandemic- That’s right. The same thing that is driving you to take on every Pinterest project the eye can see is the same thing that should give you a reason to chill out and let someone else handle it. It’s a high stress situation why not relax and purchase that hair elixir instead of mixing it in the bathroom yourself?
  2. Sometimes We Just Need an Expert- We may know a lot, but we can’t know everything. It’s okay to reach out and let someone with a deeper understanding of a topic take over.  You’re great at doing what you do best, so why not let someone else do what they do best?
  3. Variety is the Spice of Life- Life is for the living so why not switch it up sometimes and explore as much of it as possible? There is no way you can have meaningful experiences and connections if you never venture out into the world. While down time is essential, you shouldn’t spend all your time on your own. Find your tribe and have a good time!
  4. You Don’t Want To - Sometimes it’s just that simple. You may posses the skills to do something, but don’t feel like doing it yourself and that’s okay. One of the most important things we can do is take cues from our body and rest when it’s asking us to. You don’t need permission to unwind and not take on every task yourself.

So remember, while it might seem tempting not only can you not do it all on your own, you probably shouldn’t. Asking for help when we need it is the only way we can accomplish every task effectively and be our amazing selves!
